Just this morning I told my 6yo that she couldn't do something. She ran off into her room. I gave her a few minutes and then went in to chat. She said, "I am the worst one in the family!" And so I repeated what she said, "you feel you are the worst in the family." And then she said, "I hate myself." So instead of trying to fix or save her, I said, "you feel like you hate yourself...are you sad?" And she opened right up and told me all the other reasons why she felt sad...and I didn’t try to fix it. I just sat with her and told her I feel sad sometimes too. And then we played Go Fish and now she's fine. Thanks to this course, I learned how to hold her feelings and let her work through them without saving her. Thank you!
