Shopify & eCommerce Tech Specialist

Please note that this role is a technical operations role. It encompasses more than knowing how to add products and images to a Shopify store. Thank you for taking a moment to read this qualifier.

About this Role

As part of our tight, nibble, and dedicated team, you will lead all efforts to manage and optimize our e-Commerce and business operations technology. 

This includes managing the processes, workflows, integrations and improvements across three international Shopify Plus stores / sites and external online properties (e.g. membership media site, LMS, etc.).  

Our current tech software and apps channels include: Shopify Plus (including print-on-demand and subscription / recurring billing products), Unbounce, Uscreen, Thinkific, Flipsnack, Klaviyo, Postscript, and other 3rd party add-ons and technology to support both our e-Commerce roadmap and the team’s ops tech stack. 

Core Scope & Responsibilities

  • Project management for all eCommerce technical operations projects, including maintenance of three Shopify Plus stores, product management, features and functionality updates, redesign & re-platform efforts, and all vendor integrations.
  • Shopify product management including new listings, SEO, add-to-cart links, recurring billing flows, upsell, product recommendations, etc.
  • Manage front-end and back-end systems and software integrations — directly or via oversight. Actively manage 3rd party partners such as developers and optimization agencies.
  • Implementation and reporting of testing, analytics, reporting, and targeting.
  • Set up QA tracking of all eCommerce operations.
  • Define and track technical roadmaps, project budgets, and report progress (risks and issues) to the team.
  • Develop benchmarks and KPIs to measure performance and identify opportunities for a roadmap of optimizations to the technical operations of the e-Commerce sites.
  • Own the research & recommendation, implementations, integrations and maintenance of all company technology solutions and properties. (e.g. Slack, ClickUp, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Identify and test innovations and latest trends in e-Commerce DTC technology with the goals of improving customer experience and driving revenue growth.

 

Personal & Professional Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience with Shopify+ is essential. 
  • Intrinsically motivated and digitally savvy technology professional with at least 5+ years eCommerce technologies experience (with either a high-volume brand or an agency). This includes knowledge of basic HTML / javascript / coding languages.
  • Experience in the development of project plans and allocation of resources
  • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills with analytical abilities to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously with close attention to detail and process.
  • Strong consumer / user journey focus and ability to advocate for their perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills.

 

This is a contract or contract-to-hire opportunity with Big Life Journal. Part-time to full-time is negotiable. However, you must be available to the team sometime between 9am to 7pm ET, M-F during normal operations — and potentially occasional weekend hours if needed during ‘crunch’ product launch periods.
