Discussion Questions
- When Leo turned into a zebra, he had to make the most of his situation. If you had to turn into an animal, what kind of animal would you want to be?
- In this episode, Leo realized he needed to do something about his boredom instead of just complaining about it. Have you ever wanted to complain about something but chose to take action instead?
- Instead of complaining about food allergies, Ayush found a solution to address the problem. What is a problem that you can find a solution for?
Activities
1. Try out the "Positivity Board Game" printable available in our Positivity and Connection Printable Kit. This fun game offers your child different actions they can do such as "make your silliest face" or "name your biggest strength." This will keep your child occupied when complaining of boredom as well as foster a more positive mindset.
2. The next time your child complains about something, give them a choice as to what they think should happen next. You can say, “It sounds like you’re frustrated right now. Do you need to vent or do you want to make a plan?” You can follow this with “Should we think about what we can do to fix this situation?” Help them identify a goal and consider their next steps. Discover other ways to respond when your child complains HERE.
3. Have your child start a memory journal where they write down something each day that they enjoyed. Experts say writing about positive experiences can actually have a major impact on positive thinking.
