It was a guide not only for my teen son, but also for me.
Alexabdra´s materials and tip's are very helpfull.
I used this with a class of freshmen once a week during distance learning when we had a social emotional learning class period. They found these activities more engaging than the curriculum I was given and they gave them a focused way to talk about growth mindset and processing the pandemic. I highly recommend it!
The Growth Mindset Kit for Teens is great for kids — and for us parents too. The pandemic has challenged us all in ways we did not see coming less than 18 months ago. Being able to know how to make lemonade out of lemons is probably the most essential skill of all these days. These tough times have given us plenty of opportunities to be real, vulnerable, and to practice directing our thoughts in ways that fundamentally nurture ourselves and our personal growth. The sheets are colourful, beautiful and thought-provoking. I bought them before the pandemic and found them a little difficult to figure out how to download, but with my pandemic-influenced improved tech skills I am sure I would find it easier now. I am grateful I brought these into our home.
I have tried every suggestion available for my 15 year old African American male. His self esteem is at an all time low. He feels worthless and that he is a failure. He no longer enjoys performing music, drawing, golfing or skateboarding. He isolates himself in his room, listening to weird music or watching horror movies. I am from the old school: What the parent says goes. I have a tendency to be negative, demanding and try to rule from a position of power. Most of the time when I use the suggested phrases and positive approach, he does a complete turn-around. He is not so defensive or hostile. I absolutely appreciate this email in transforming my efforts to help this young man develop on his life journey to become a contributing citizen of the world.
